Tried out a new up-do today! Now that my hair has finally grown out to the length I’ve been dying for it to grow out to it was time to play with some new hairstyles. I got this idea from an article I read on Refinery29 yesterday labeled 6 DIY Hairstyles Perfect For Long-Haired Ladies. I really like this new style. It’s a mix between a subtle Princess Leia look and a European maiden. And It’s great for hot days too! What do you think?!

After hearing about the San Francisco vintage pop-up shop, Golden Collective, in Refinery29 I had to take a weekend off to check this place out. I’m not usually a huge vintage buyer, but when the opportunity comes up where I can get an awesome vintage piece for a reasonable price I am in. After driving around a bit, looking for the place, I noticed a vintage clothed mannequin sitting outside the corner of Fulton & Clayton and I said to myself this has to be the place. First off, the pop up shop is super small, which is expected. It’s in a tiny garage, but once you walk in there is a ton to look at from vintage blouses, coats, belts, shoes, and more. There are several racks of clothes that get updated with new product every few minutes or so as more clothes get bought.

I found out Golden Collective is put on once a month, always on the third Sunday, and consists of product from 5 ladies around the bay area. Some of the ladies have their own blogs or vintage stores while others are just genuine vintage lovers. I was able to meet 4 of them the weekend I went. Each of them have their own style and personality and you can tell they are die hard friends for life. I absolutely adored each of them.

If you have some time in May check them out. They post up their monthly dates on their Facebook page. Also, there is always new product so you never get stuck looking at last months stuff. Make sure to have money ready because I don’t think you’ll be leaving this place without buying something for your wardrobe.

Keds Spring 2012 apparel line

I was graciously invited to the Keds Spring 2012 footwear and apparel preview party at The Blue Plate in San Francisco last week. This was my first glimpse at their new collection hitting stores very soon. First thoughts, fresh and fun! I have to admit I haven’t bought Keds since I was a young girl. I do remember, however, that I lived in their shoes. They were the perfect every day shoe and still are. It was nice to see a new fun side of Keds with their Spring 2012 footwear containing a variety of fun upbeat patterns and colors, from checkers to stripes to glimmers.

The Blue Plate restaurant, where the party was held, was a quaint cute place near Bernal Heights. Their appetizers were amazing, their beet or d’oeuvre was my favorite! Along with the delicious food was a watercolor artist painting pictures of each guest wearing their choice of Spring 2012 apparel. All in all, the event was a success. I was able to meet an awesome group of Keds brand executives, dine on delicious appetizers, while “oo-ing” and “awe-ing” over their new collection. Probably one of the best shots of the city I have taken from my mobile phone in awhile (In case anyone is wondering which phone that would be, it’s the HTC Incredible 2). The new jungle gym they built for the kids is almost finished. Can’t wait to see this park filled up with socialites and foodies alike, once the weather gets better. Can the real spring weather please come out?! Oh wait this is real SF spring weather. Lol.

I snapped a few photos of my boyfriend, tech nerd and 4 Hour Body obsessed Arthur Keukazian, looking as spiffy as ever at the Treasure Island Flea Market. He’s dressed in an Gap bicycle shirt and grey cardigan (very San Francisco, and yes I picked them out), a pair of Guess jeans, with an oh-so-sexy smile. Check out the photos and tell me, do you think he’s got style?

If you haven’t been to the Treasure Island Flea Market yet you should go. I went for the first time a few weekends ago and had the time of my life. There are a ton of vendors inside and out ranging from furniture, clothing,  jewelry, home goods, artwork, and more. Every month new vendors appear with unique handmade items you can’t find anywhere.

For instance, I got stuck at one booth for the longest time. The vendor is called “The Castle Walls”, there you can find the coolest collection of handmade steampunk jewelry. Below is a ring I bought at that booth. I know, totally weird, but I was drawn to it.

The flea market also consists of an array of ethnic food trucks consisting of burgers, Belgian waffles, donuts, Peruvian food and more. It’s pure heaven I tell ya. Oh and did I mention the view from the flea market? To die for. On a sunny day you can sit by the water and overlook the entire city of San Francisco including an awesome view of the Bay Bridge. Jessica Chastain in McQueen at Oscars 2012

There has been much talk about whether or not Jessica Chastain’s McQueen gown was a success at the 84th Academy Awards. To all those blogger sites that said it was a worst dressed nominee, “You are wrong!”.  I absolutely loved her McQueen gown. Now don’t get me wrong. Not everyone likes gold on black gowns. It sort of an acquired taste. I, on the other hand, love the combination. It portrays a sort of romantic baroque feel. Sexy to say the least.

Dolce and Gabbana has introduced a similar collection of baroque-like fashion for Fall 2012 and I am IN LOVE WITH IT!  This collection is a combination of sultry, edgy romanticism. Downtown SF from Embarcadero.

I’m so glad I was able to speak at FIDM San Francisco’s Blogger Panel last Thursday! I had a blast. I was able to see my good friends as well as meet a few new bloggers to the bay area as well. It’s funny how small of a world it is when you meet someone you have never met, but they know everyone in your network and you know everyone in theirs. Oh the power of networking!

Below are a few shots I took before and after the event. Every seat was taken which was awesome. I was also able to meet a few up and coming fashion bloggers, like Rachel The Stylish Wanderer, as well. All in all in was an eventful evening and I have to thank Marcellina Burch, Student Activities Coordinator at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in San Francisco, for allowing me to speak to her students. Can’t wait for the next one!
