McQueen Oscar Gown and Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2012 Must-Haves

Jessica Chastain in McQueen at Oscars 2012

There has been much talk about whether or not Jessica Chastain’s McQueen gown was a success at the 84th Academy Awards. To all those blogger sites that said it was a worst dressed nominee, “You are wrong!”.  I absolutely loved her McQueen gown. Now don’t get me wrong. Not everyone likes gold on black gowns. It sort of an acquired taste. I, on the other hand, love the combination. It portrays a sort of romantic baroque feel. Sexy to say the least.

Dolce and Gabbana has introduced a similar collection of baroque-like fashion for Fall 2012 and I am IN LOVE WITH IT!  This collection is a combination of sultry, edgy romanticism. Makes me wish I lived during this era. Below are my favorite pieces from the collection. Let me know what you think! For the full Fall 2012 collection click here.

FIDM San Francisco Blogger Event Recap

I’m so glad I was able to speak at FIDM San Francisco’s Blogger Panel last Thursday! I had a blast. I was able to see my good friends as well as meet a few new bloggers to the bay area as well. It’s funny how small of a world it is when you meet someone you have never met, but they know everyone in your network and you know everyone in theirs. Oh the power of networking!

Below are a few shots I took before and after the event. Every seat was taken which was awesome. I was also able to meet a few up and coming fashion bloggers, like Rachel The Stylish Wanderer, as well. All in all in was an eventful evening and I have to thank Marcellina Burch, Student Activities Coordinator at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in San Francisco, for allowing me to speak to her students. Can’t wait for the next one!

Edelweiss European Flower Necklace

I remember hearing the song “Edelweiss” gloriously sung by Captain Georg Ludwig von Trapp in the 1959 movie The Sound of Music. I used to play that movie over and over again as a child. That and the Wizard of Oz. Two of my favorite old time movies. Hehe.  I was always curious as to what “Edelweiss” actually was so one day I asked my Mom. Of course she was ecstatic to tell me (she’s German and it’s European). She said it was a mountain flower that grew in the hills of the Alps. A beautiful white flower.

I remember seeing this amazing necklace around my mothers neck one day and asked her what was inside it. It was unlike anything I had seen before. Pretty much looked like a white fluff ball but for some reason I was intrigued. Come to find out, it was a real Edelweiss flower dried and made into a necklace. From that day forward I have wanted one of these necklaces so bad. Guess what! That day has finally come. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Speaking at FIDM San Francisco February 2nd!

I’m ecstatic to hear that the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in San Francisco has invited me back to speak to their students and teachers on the effects of social media and blogging on the fashion industry! Next Thursday February 2nd 2012 I will be speaking on a panel of 4 other fashion bloggers including Adelle McElveen of FashionistaLab.com, Erin Hagstrom of CaliVintage.com, Lorraine Sanders of SFIndieFashion.com, and Sinead Norenius of iFabbo.com.

Social media is the heart of everything I do so I am quite excited to talk about it with fellow students interested in making an online presence for themselves.

This event is completely open to the public. If you’re in the San Francisco area come out and support me.  Find out more about the event here.

My boyfriend picked up these Australian sheepskin UGG’s for me while on his trip to Australia last month. I’ve never owned a pair and what good time to start owning some that flew over 7000 miles to get to me. Now that the weather in SF is getting gloomy I’m even more excited to slip on these warm fluffy booties. Go Aussie’s!

Mornings by the Bay

A photo out the south window of my work building. You can see the temporary Trans Bay Terminal on the left and the actual harbor near the top of the image.

What better way to watch a Monday morning start. Ahh. Okay now back  to work!
