Ever Wonder What Purchasing from JewelMint is Like?

image

It’s amazing!! I had the chance this past weekend to purchase my very first JewelMint.com item, the Fine Tune Necklace. JewelMint, a new jewelry line featuring the designs of Kate Bosworth and Cher Coulter, analyzes their customer needs by having them answer style questions that tell the company which pieces of jewelry best fit their customers’ personal style. Each month a members jewelry selection changes and each time the price remains at $29.99 per piece. That’s an amazing deal for exclusive pieces!

The Fine Tune Necklace popped up in my list of jewelry they thought I might like. Weren’t they right! I had actually been looking for a necklace like this for awhile, but hadn’t come across any. I jumped at the idea of purchasing it and to my luck I had a 50% off coupon to go with it. So in the end I only paid $14.99 + free shipping for the item you are about to witness. The best part of all of this was how gorgeously wrapped the product came to my door step. Not only was the item contained in a unique JewelMint.com black bubble wrap bag but the item came in a beautifully, well-built box with a gorgeous bow and personalized message from Kate and Cher about my item inside. I was actually quite impressed. All this for only $14.99? You bet I’ll be purchasing a lot of my Christmas items off JewelMint. :)

A Touch of 70′s- TOKYObay Flora Watch Shoot

Flora Watch by TOKYObay

Why 70′s? Because it reminds me of an era I wish I had lived in. Bold colors. Big pants. Casual lifestyle. Here is my second installment of photos I took for San Francisco accessories brand, TOKYObay.  The piece I am presenting is the retro Flora watch featured above. The watch contains an ivory dial and floral suede strap; both qualities I love in a watch.

My outfit is a representation on how seventies flare can be added to a simple modern outfit; for example, a pair of skinny jeans and a black tank. I changed up my simple outfit by adding in a stylish yellow shoulder bag, bright blue drop earrings, and a multi-colored patterned scarf. Color is huge right now. Can’t wait to get my hands on some neon!

Featured items: Flora TOKYObay watch, thrift skinny jeans, Mouse and Moe Canopy Triple Earrings, Urban Expression shoulder bag, American Eagle pointed shoes, American Rag black tank, and thrift 70′s scarf

Must See: Discarded to Divine Charity Fashion Event in SF 4/28

On Thursday April 28th Discarded to Divine will be making its 2011 debut at the Hall of St. Mary’s Cathedral. Discarded to Divine is a charitable event showcasing the talents of professional and aspiring designers who transform discarded, donated clothing into one-of-a-kind couture creations and exquisite home décor which are auctioned to benefit those overcoming poverty, homelessness and domestic violence.

Tea at Twilight Gown: Cari Borja

Now in its sixth year, Discarded to Divine has become a much anticipated fashion event, attracting nearly 1,000 of San Francisco’s philanthropic community, fashionistas, young professionals and established friends of the St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco. I am ecstatic about this event as this is my first time attending the fashion show. I look forward to covering this event for my readers and possibly showcasing my potential purchases from the silent auction. Stay tuned later this week for my full recap of the event. ;)

A good friend of mine Adelle of the FashionistaLab.com has been involved in the event the past few years. Check out her post from last years event.

Fashion Bloggers Share Advice at RetailCamp LA

I had the pleasure to attend Retail Camp, an interactive two day conference at Woodbury University in Los Angeles this past Sunday. I was invited by a good friend and colleague of mine, Macala Wright of FashionablyMarketing.Me, who also hosted and spoke at the digital media event. Unfortunately I was unable to attend Saturday’s session which was focused around modern fashion PR, the socialization and curation of luxury, and marketing trends of 2011. I was on the other hand able to attend the most important session on my part, Blogger Camp.

Sunday’s Blogger Camp showcased the business of style, fashion and beauty blogging.  Speakers included Jennine Jacob of Independent Fashion Bloggers, Marie Denee of TheCurvyFashionista.com, Valerie Elizabeth of SocietyStylist.com, Tina Craig & Kelly Cook of BagSnob.com, Mary Hall of Recessionista.com, and Erin Weinger of StyleSectionLA. Each blogger shared how their blogs were started, which social media tools were most important to them, how they deal with persistent PR professionals and more. I’m glad I was able to drive down from San Francisco to attend this event.  It was definitely worth the drive and gave me a lot of insight into what I should be doing with my own blog (more to come ;) ). Check out the outfit I sported and the awesome swag bag they provided to all guest at the end of the event below. Enjoy!

Fashionably Ashley Takes on Sassy City Chicks Fashion Bash in San Francisco

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Ever wonder where you can shop up to 80% off designer clothing, sip cotton candy cocktails, and watch a sunset in one of the hottest cars on the market all at once? I know! I attended the Sassy City Chicks Fashion Bash sponsored by Chevrolet this past week and divulged in all that and more over the course of one night. The event showcased a variety of online boutique shops like Belina and 365 Hangars as well as up and coming designers like Omnatura. All independent designers and sample shops lined the large Herbst Pavillion hangar at the Fort Mason Center in San Francisco.

The Shopping Addict

Here’s how the night began…

I was greeted by the lovely ladies at Sassy City Chick’s and Chevrolet around 5pm. My good friend’s Angelica Benjamin of Gelicarae.com and Jennifer Benson part owner of DigitallyChic.com and I entered the floor with goody bags in hand and money in our wallets. Oh yes, I was so000 ready to buy. First stop of the night was at Urban Expressions, an online handbag boutique. I bought the lovely mustard yellow purse below. Wear it as a clutch or hook on its strap to make it a wonderful shoulder bag. This leather bag cost me a minimal $48. Not bad at all.

Alana Amber: Fresh N’ Funky Clothing

In love with a little pop culture? How about artistic expression’s of femininity? If so, then you will definitely fall in love with Alana Amber. I had the pleasure to be introduced to Alana Amber and her fun and funky t-shirt line days after WWDMAGIC in February. I ended up falling in love with the gorgeous Girls With Pearls shirt featured above. As a kind gesture Alana surprised me with the shirt delivered in Alana Amber’s signature leopard printed red box (featured in slideshow below). Curious to know who this fashion wonder is? Here’s a little more about her and her t-shirt collection.

Alana Amber T-Shirt Line

Alana’s love of fashion started around the age of 5 when she and her sister Marissa would stand in front of their TV set emulating various stars as they performed their latest hit videos. At the age of 12 she was the spotlight of her Catholic school, showcasing her fun and funky style during days when students didn’t have to wear uniforms. Though getting accepted to both Columbia University and Georgia Institute of Technology engineering programs, Alana graduated with a mathematics degree in 3 years from Spelman College and a degree in 2 years at Georgia Institute of Technology.

Mouse and Moe Jewelry- Sustainable Fashion by Emily Grace Goodrich

Vibrant, light weight, and sustainable? Is this possible in an accessory line? Why yes it is! I came across this wonderful jewelry collection called Mouse and Moe after attending WWDMAGIC last month. Each piece of jewelry in this collection, designed by Emily Grace Goodrich, a fellow painter, photographer, and now designer, is made from heat fused, recycled plastic shopping bags. At first you wonder how can this product last when its made out of only recycled goods. I thought this too myself, but after receiving a few pieces from Emily and trying them out I can honestly say these are some of the best built accessories I’ve ever worn.

Green Floral Hair Pin by Mouse and Moe

I received the gorgeous green floral hair pin in my WWDMAGIC swag bag and the lovely cyan blue earrings from Emily personally. The vibrant Spring colors in both pieces is what first drew my attention. I also loved how light weight they were. I hate it when I wear earrings that hurt my ears after only wearing them for less than 3 hours.  I almost forgot I was wearing these earrings that’s how great they felt.

On each accessory Emily adds information on how your piece was created. The note I received said this:

“This accessory is made primarily from braided plastic or recycled plastic bags that have been heat-fused to make a durable material. The handbags are machine stiched, most of the jewelry hand-stitched to wire. Use it as conversation piece about the importance of keeping plastics out of the landfills and oceans, or as a reminder to yourself to keep a reusable shopping bag handy. It is made with care and inspired by places around the globe. For photos and stories about your pieces orgins in Uganda visit http://www.emilygracesuitcase.com”;
