Mouse and Moe Jewelry- Sustainable Fashion by Emily Grace Goodrich

Vibrant, light weight, and sustainable? Is this possible in an accessory line? Why yes it is! I came across this wonderful jewelry collection called Mouse and Moe after attending WWDMAGIC last month. Each piece of jewelry in this collection, designed by Emily Grace Goodrich, a fellow painter, photographer, and now designer, is made from heat fused, recycled plastic shopping bags. At first you wonder how can this product last when its made out of only recycled goods. I thought this too myself, but after receiving a few pieces from Emily and trying them out I can honestly say these are some of the best built accessories I’ve ever worn.

Green Floral Hair Pin by Mouse and Moe

I received the gorgeous green floral hair pin in my WWDMAGIC swag bag and the lovely cyan blue earrings from Emily personally. The vibrant Spring colors in both pieces is what first drew my attention. I also loved how light weight they were. I hate it when I wear earrings that hurt my ears after only wearing them for less than 3 hours.  I almost forgot I was wearing these earrings that’s how great they felt.

On each accessory Emily adds information on how your piece was created. The note I received said this:

“This accessory is made primarily from braided plastic or recycled plastic bags that have been heat-fused to make a durable material. The handbags are machine stiched, most of the jewelry hand-stitched to wire. Use it as conversation piece about the importance of keeping plastics out of the landfills and oceans, or as a reminder to yourself to keep a reusable shopping bag handy. It is made with care and inspired by places around the globe. For photos and stories about your pieces orgins in Uganda visit http://www.emilygracesuitcase.com”;

A Peek at my #WWDMAGIC Swag

What better way to spend my time at home after Magic then unwrapping all the lovely gifts sent over to me from the show. Showcased above is a lovely pair of dark washed Nicole style Miss Me Jeans, mauve silk/linen floral tank from Kensie, and a pair of teal O’Neill flip flops.

Some of my favorite gifts from the show had to be my pair of high heeled Lolasita’s and Tarshie flats by You by Crocs. Since when did Croc’s look so hot?? The Lolasita’s heels are the most comfortable yet stylish shoe I’ve ever owned.  I paired them with tights and they looked phenomenal. The Tarshie flats are just as comfortable and look good with a pair of skinny jeans.

A few other gifts I received were the amazing Via Spiga black heels. With an enormous heel in the back and large platform in the front these shoes gave me the added height of a model. Gorgeous black beads adorned the front making the shoe shimmer while you walked.

Do-It-Yourself Statement Necklaces w/ Erica Domesek at #WWDMAGIC

image

On Tuesday February 15th the Teen Vogue Blogger Lounge was packed. Several Teen Vogue fashion bloggers gathered around Erica Domesek, author of P.S. I Made This, to create a one-of-a-kind statement necklace. Although it took me several tries (I know I know) I finally crafted up a gorgeous necklace with hues of pink, blue, and black. What was the cost? A few strands of beads bought at Party City, a couple cut up threads of cloth, and a cheap yet adorable brooch.

The book, P.S. I Made This, I actually first encountered back in December. My cousin was begging for it for Christmas. And its no wonder, since she has a love for arts and crafts. After all necklaces were made Erica kindly gave every blogger a signed copy of her book. She is absolutely one of the sweetest people I have ever met and I am so thrilled I had the opportunity to meet her in person at WWDMAGIC.

Try your craftiness by visiting Erica Domesek’s blog.

Fashionable Times w/ Kensie Clothing at WWDMAGIC

While scouring the WWDMAGIC floor this past week I came across a unique brand with exactly my kind of taste, Kensie. They consider their brand as a modern girl trying to make her way through life (totally sounds like me must I say). Their fall 2011 collection featured various neutral and earthly tones, plenty of sheer, and of course this years highlight, ruffles (above). Their look definitely gives you a San Francisco vibe even though they are based in Canada and New York.

“The pieces in each collection play with the idea of change, contrast, of mixing pretty with edgy. There’s a sense of structure and fluidity, femininity and masculinity, pieces with an elegant yet whimsical kind of pretty, pieces on the edge of pretty”-Kensie.com

I had the pleasure to meet with Hayley from Kensie Clothing at their WWDMAGIC booth last week. On Valentine’s Day she invited me and various other bloggers from the Teen Vogue Blogger Lounge to join in on the festivities of pink champagne and Lindor Truffles. Mmmm! Must I say yum!

Afterwards each of us were given a piece of Kensie clothing.  I received the gorgeous mauve colored linen and silk shirt featured above. Cuteee! Absolutely love the the gathered flowers in the front and the buttoned up back. Thank you Hayley and Kensie for a wonderful experience at Magic! Kensie was definitely in the top 5 of my favorite brands at WWDMAGIC.
