A New Twist on Organic Cuisines

I stumbled upon this place over the Memorial Day weekend and was astounded by it’s unique menu of all organic vegan-style foods. When you think Mexican normally organic doesn’t come to mind, but in this little San Francisco restaurant organic is the only word used to create the most delicious Mexican dishes around town. The restaurant, Gracias Madre, builds its reputation around providing only locally grown organic foods.  Their vegetables are picked fresh daily from their organic farm in Pleasants Valley, only a few miles from their shop. Their mission? To create healthy human beings, strong communities, and a healthy planet.

If you’re looking for meat this isn’t your place. All traditional meat-filled Mexican dishes are replaced with vegetable mixes only. Dishes included are chile rellenos, tacos, and enchiladas. For your starter dish, make sure you get the guacamole and tortillas. Their tortillas are hand-made daily and include non-GMO heirloom corn. They are to die for! If you love them a lot you can take a batch home with you for only $5. I’d also recommend the cantaloupe juice. One taste and you would think you were eating cantaloupe straight off the rind. Not only is the food amazing but the interior decorating is as well. Old time glass bottles hold your water while raggedy-looking napkins give the feel you’re eating in rural Mexico. Be sure to check this place out next time your in Northern California. That’s it for now. See you in a few. Love ya!
